Everything About The Acadia University

At Acadia, students benefit from "The Acadia Advantage", an academic initiative that integrates the use of notebook computers into the fabric of the undergraduate curriculum. It is an exciting undertaking that enhances the university's teaching and learning environment. Acadia's students receive laptop computers for use during the academic year, and their computers become an integral part of their learning experience. By participating in The Acadia Advantage, students will leverage today's technology to develop the advanced analytical skills they need to navigate the ever-changing informationlandscape.

In September 2008, Acadia implemented a student-owned notebook
computer version of the Acadia Advantage. Acadia Advantage 2.0 is the next generation of the initiative, allowing students to choose and own the laptop they bring to class, while we continue to enhance our technology-rich learning experience that is unparalleled elsewhere – it’s that simple.

The university's small town location, about 100 km northwest of the provincial capital of Halifax, and predominantly residential character encourage personal growth through close contacts with students and professors, through participation in intramural and intercollegiate activities, and through a wide variety of cultural programs. With every student receiving a notebook computer with up-to-date programs and access throughout campus, graduates say they are well-prepared for the workplace. Our students find the Acadia environmet to be rich and rewarding. And, Acadia alumni are the proof as they undertake ambitious research and pursue outstanding careers worldwide.
